I got this Asus UL80VT with Windows 7 Ultimate and i upgraded something i dont know then when i turn my laptop on…A black screen with these are written on it..
” For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller V2.0.0.0.4
CLIENT MAC ADDR- _ _ _ _ _
Then when i press Esc button it states,
' Network boot cancelled by Keystroke “
It takes a very long time to get it completed…So i just pressed the Esc key…Then it returns to normal…
This is just one part…
When i begin multitasking most of the time on the net when i click on Mozila or Chrome it does not show up..And if it did sometimes it wont respond and then freezes…The same thing goes when i Click on files or folders… I’ve no idea what's wrong with my laptop…Should i use the recovery disc or something…
Please answer!!
Answer: First problem: The boot order in your bios has you booting to network before your hard drive.
The second problem is too common, that symptom could mean hundreds of thousands of things. I would have to look at the machine to diagnose.
Answer: What ever you upgraded, is the cause of your troubles! Since you don't have a clue what that was, I can't help you any further!
Answer: To me it seems that the upgrade was the problem and now only an expert can clear it up. From my experiences with Asus I would return it and get an HP.
Answer: Just go back to a restore point before you upgraded.
Answer: That could easily mean that your personal might have a virus. I know that when I've had a virus it varies on what it does to your computer. I had one that prevented me from going into 'Safe Mode' (press F8 when your personal is starting up) and it wouldn't open anything once it was TOTALLY warmed up. Eventually I was able to download a virus software that got rid of it. It was a 'Trojan Horse' meaning that one got in and it multiplied throughout my personal (127 infections). It disguised itself as a shield that looked like Simantex or ActiveX except it wasn't red or yellow it was a weird orange color. Look out for things like that and I would run a full scan for viruses and see if there are any on there. If there aren't then I'm not sure what it could be. If it's not a virus, sorry. If it is, I hope I helped.
