I just got At&t dsl internet and i got the wireless gateway router modem thing but apparently its not wireless because i have to have a cord connected to the wireless thing and my laptop. Does anyone have experience with At&t?

I have an AT&T wireless gateway as well which came with my U-Verse package. The model is over a year old and is wireless, so I can't imagine that yours isn't wireless.

I do remember, though, that when I first got it my computer could not detect the wi-fi signal. You need to check for a sticker on the Gateway, it will have an identification number for the Gateway. Then in the Gateway settings, use that number to log in. From there, you can change the settings so that any personal can pick up the signal. If you need more help, get on the U-Verse site. There's documentation available there. I wish I could be of more assistance, but I'm a bit short on time right now.
