My computer lets me log in on my user and stuff but then my desktop and Icons wont appear but i can only get on the web with windows task manager I need help

Kayy, I hate to state this but you most likely got screwed. The guys at the store you took it to probably couldn't figure it out so decided reinstalling Windows was easiest and so they claimed your HD was bad so that they could get some extra money out of you in the deal.

Did you turn your icons off? To check that, right click the screen and hover over “arrange icons by” and you should see another section open, at the bottom there is “show desktop icons” make sure it's checked. If that's not it then I agree with bringing it in.

Running explorer.exe from the task manager should restore the desktop. But I can’t state why it wont appear. Try running a virus or spyware (prefereably both) scan to see if this is the problem.

hmm, best bet to take it to a pc store..i had a VERY similar problem. they fixed it and stated its to do with a dying hardrive
