After downloading and watching an episode of South Park off of ITunes, lines scattered across my computer screen. The laptop didn't respond, so I had to hard boot it. The computer occasionally turns on, and has done so long enough for me to run an antivirus program for 20 mins before crashing again. (with no viruses detected) Now, the laptop won't turn on at all, only bepping in the following pattern

Beep-beep-(long)beep (pause) beep beep beep (pause) (back to start)

There’s nothing but a blank screen now. Please help!

And before you ask, I am writing this on a mates PC.

Answer:
It sounds care about it might be a hardware failure (the Tecra S1 was one of Toshiba's worst models), I doubt it'd be worth fixing (and I'd be very surprised if it still has a warranty given that model hasn't been in production for more than a few years).

Removing the battery and unplugging it and then putting the battery back in and plugging it into the wall might help but that'd be a long shot (it probably isn't a virus).

Another possibility would be to look at the manual and see if the troubleshooting section describes that beep code (though if it states anything it'll probably be to get it serviced).

Answer:
Hi,

can you try to remove the battery for 5 minutes.

You must disconnect all and after remove battery.

After 5 minutes reconnect battery and ac/dc converter and power on pc.

Sometimes the old battery can do this problem.

I hope that you resolve.

Sorry for my English, I’m Italian.

Bye Sonic
