they’re crap, work well as a paper wieght though
I’ve one of their business-line notebooks from a year and a half ago and allowed, it's more well-made than the regular lineup, but I think the build quality is excellent, the price/power ratio is reasonable, and the warranty can't be beat.
With each other notebook company I've researched, the warranty is strictly for one country, which is dumb, because a lot of people get a notebook for traveling purposes. Asus has a global notebook warranty, meaning that wherever you are in the world, you can call a toll-free number, get support, and have your computer sent in if need be. It's also incredibly easy to get an Asus representative on the phone for support in the US, and I've been very pleased every time I had a concern or issue, even when one of my parts failed after a year.
Overall, Asus as a company is breathtaking and simple to deal with, and even through lots of travel, frequent/intensive use/abuse, this personal geek has never regretted her decision to purchase Asus.
Also, rumor has it that Asus makes Apple notebooks in their factories. Isn't apple known for well-made laptops? I'm not really sure what the poster above me is speaking about with inferior build quality…
