My laptop is broken (Old gateway laptop with XP), and I’m going to have to get a new laptop soon and I’m debating whether or not to get a MAC or Computer.
Macbooks are a tiny over $1000.00 and I've heard so many great things about them…
but I was looking on the Dell website and their personal begin at
$300.00 and a lot of people state Dell is a great brand.
*****I'm just going to use the personal for basic uses (typing up papers, etc) so is it worth it to get a Mac? Or should I get a Dell and save a few hundred bucks?******
Answer: I just switched from a PC to an iMac and LOVE it. My husband & I had spent several months researching the Dell, the HP and the Gateway, even Toshiba is getting in on the action! We had every intention of replacing our PC with another PC. But when at the store, what made our decision was that a Mac is virtuously 99.9% guaranteed of NOT getting a virus. Viruses are written for Windows, not the Mac OS. That sold us! It takes some getting used to learning the operating system, but it's well worth it!
Cheaper isn’t always better.
Remember: You get what you pay for.
Good luck whatever you decide!
Answer: As a newly converted Mac user I would love to tell you that a Mac is absolutely the way to go, but in reality if you are just doing word processing and some web browsing a Personal computer might be a better choice if you want to save money.
You’ll have less crashes and usability issues with a Mac, and you need not worry about viruses and security issues. The other benefit is that even the low end Mac Books are really fast! You have a hard decision to make.
Also note that there is great compatibility between Mac and Pc's now. Its not like the 80's and 90's. You can easily transfer stuff from one to the other.
Answer: I would just save the money and buy a non-mac based laptop or netbook if you just want something for basic tasks such as the ones you said. I don't find Macs really useful for all that much besides it just being a stylish and well made product. It's just too overpriced for me in terms of the hardware it delivers. I'm not going to pay a premium for looks or minor tiny conveniences.
Answer: Computer!
I’m sorry to hear that your laptop is broken. :/
I’ve a laptop as well, it is about 5 years old. LOL.
I would just get a Dell. Save your money. I have a Dell and it's great. If you are using your personal for basic uses, then you really don't need to purchase a Mac with more features. Just get a basic Dell Computer.
