anytime i plug mi ipod into my laptop nothing happens, the personal isn't doin that bleepingnnoise it usually makes when i plug a usb in. I did something before can't remember what it was though, think i went into control panel and eleted all the usb saved ports and restarted my laptop twice and that fixed it.. any ieas?

It could be 1 of 2 things. More then likely, there’s a problem with the driver for your usb root hub or the ipod. Open up the control panel and then double click on system. Click on the hardware tab and then the Device manager button. If you have anything with a yellow question mark, right click on it and then click on update drive. follow the wizard accepting the default option. Reboot and you shoudl be fine. If you don't have the yellow question marks, expand the USB section and right click on the usb root hubs one at a time and then click uninstall. Reboot and it will reinstall them.

It is suggested that IPod are to be connected USB ports at the base of the laptops than the ones that are beside the screen.

I'm guessing might be you are using the ports around the screen.

I had this problem with my desktop and ipod. When i connect ipod to the front of my desktop, although a USB device is detected, itunes wont launch and stuff. When i started connecting it to the back, things started working fine.


Answer:
Try to refresh the device in windows media player VISTA only though.
Or hit the sinc tab in windows media player.
