anyways… if you want a good quality computer that's reliable and has a reliable operating system go with a macbook or macbook pro.

if you like windows, you can purchase an oem windows license from somewhere like http://newegg.com and use boot camp to run it on a mac. it will work like a regular pc.
if you would rather buy a windows pc. then i'd go with samsung

as a lot of people are saying on here though… get a mac. trust me, they are so much superior.
ignore the guy who says hp is the best quality. i have an hp and a mac… apple is KNOWN for being the BEST quality personal and also the most reliable and user friendly computers. as well as having the most advanced operating system at the same time. they’re MUCH more reliable then a pc…. ask anyone who has gone from a pc to a mac. everyone will tell you… there's no going back to a pc after you use a mac. I have the ability to also tell you my personal opinion… i've used both and mac is much better and more reliable. they’re also more secure, better built… you can't go wrong with one

They’re the same thing. If you look on just about any accredited Computer reseller, they put the category as Laptops/Notebooks because they're the same thing (people say there's a difference, but if you're going to state size is the difference, then you're wrong- “notebooks” and “laptops” are all generally pretty close to each other in thickness and size).

If you’re getting a new laptop and want something that lasts, get something from Lenovo. Considering I've got two working ThinkPads from them that are each 11 years old or more, I have the ability to attest to their build quality. HP is a close second, with MSI or ASUS being 3rd. Avoid getting any Dell, Acer, Gateway or eMachines laptop, as they are all known for crappy build quality.

I have a compaq notebook. Its still working. But I've had to replace the charger 3 times. I had to replace the jack that hooks up to the charger, and my screen is broken so I have to hook it up to a huge monitor so it isn't very portable anymore. Also, both my USB ports are broken and the CD/DVD drive doesn't stay shut anymore. But other than that, it works great!

Well first of all, Laptops and Notebooks are the same exact thing. Theyre just two different names for a portable personal. If you meant NETBOOK then I deffinatly reccomend you go with a Laptop(Notebook).

Also if you do end up buying a laptop of some sort. Go with a MacBook.
