Laptop Internet Question?

Well I’ve A Windows XP Computer, normal average computer in my home.
I want to buy a laptop, preferably an Acer brand. Those small 10 inch screen ones.
what i don't get is, can i use the same internet connection from my home personal to my laptop? Do i have to pay for a second internet for the laptop? Say i take the laptop to my friends house, they have world wide web can i use theirs on my laptop?

You do NOT have to pay for a second connection. but you must purchase a wireless router to make that possible. you can even go to mcdonalds and use their wifi connection to browse the internet.

you do NOT have to pay for another world wide web connection, you can just move the web or ethernet cable, and plug it into the acer. or you can buy a wireless router, and connect with multiple computers at once.
you can also go to starbucks or macdonalds, and connect to the wireless world wide web there.
