ok so i have a macbook for almost 3 years now..
and ive used 3 different chargers now..

my brother also has a macbook but a black one and i was wondering if that had something to do , at first we though it was his laptop because his harger was the first one that stopped working.. so we used mine for about a month or so.. then mine stopped working too..

then we got another one and soon after i got mine.. all was ok..
then he purchased a new one..

and.. like about a week ago mine died.. like out of no where..
it didnt even have those signs it does of when it close to not working any more ¬¬

how long are they supposed to function right?
or why does it happen?

thankss (:

Answer:
It could be spikes on the line that are killing your adapter. In America, all corporate desktops are on UPC's and all corporate notebooks are reqiured to have surge supressors. ALMOST all US consumers do the same thing and I would bet our power grid is better than most around the world. Power spikes CAN kill an ac adpater but that’s better than killing the notebook, so “better” brands ac aapters are “sacrificial” meaning that they will purposely fail under adverse conditions rather than grant the more expensive unit to fail.

Are you sure the issue is your adapter and not your battery?
ALL notebooks batteies NO MATTER WHAT BRAND have a fife expectancy of 18 -24 months but are warranted for one year. they’re “consumable” like the tires on a vehicle. Using them uses up their capacity.

As your battery is used up, the internal resistance builds. The mac's motherboard has a circuit on it that senses this resistance and compensates. IF that circuit was bad, it could affect the charger. Your battery is OLD and definately needs replacement, and it could be causing adapter problems if that circuit was bad. There have been no recalls to my knowledge on any mac mobo or adapter for charging issues.

The COLOR of a mac or any other brand has nothing to do with quality except for “special editions” like the “RED” or “pink” that many companies made a while back for charity. They were slightly upgraded releases of comporable machines.

The ac adapter rarely dies, especially on a mac, they’ve proven to be very reliable, but there is always some variation in quality and luck does play a factor. I would estimate life expectancy of a mac ac adpter as 5 years unless it is in hot conditions like here in Arizona, then I'd anticipate 3-4. Seems like you've been dealt the bad one in the batch several times. Apple does not PURPOSELY send substandard product to any one geographic area. I't all the luck of the draw.

How long does your battery hold a charge? It sounds like your problem is most likely that you need a new battery and it is frying your chargers.
