Does anyone know how does the intel i7-720qm 1.6Ghz compare with an intel desktop quad q8300 2.5 processor?

I’ve a gateway quad 2.5Ghz and it doesn't have hyper thread.
And I would like to know if any laptop that has the i7-720qm 1.6Ghz is faster than this desktop cpu. I know it has a speed boost up to 2.8Ghz but I still not sure if it is faster. If you know the two processors and have had experience with it, can you tell me your experiences?
Answer:
Benchmark wise, the q8300 comes in slightly (~7%) faster than the i7-720qm.
That level of difference is hardly noticeable in actual use.
