Answer: Wireless communication between devices.
Your computer has a card that transmits through the airwaves to a wireless router and vice versa. The router is connected to a DSL box (for high speed internet). You don't have to be in the same room as the router, and no cords. Always though secure your router so other people cannot jump on your internet-borrowing it. A password would have to be entered in order obtain access. Also people can see what you name your router-name it something generic. Not your address, your name.
Answer: WiFi refers to wireless networking, most commonly used to access the web. There are several different standards and speeds, but they all fall under the general term WiFi. It can be used in homes, businesses, and even in places like restaurants to provide internet access for their customers. It can be public (unencrypted) or private (encrypted.) Basically, it is just a computer network without wires.
Answer: A way to get Internet access, the term Wi Fi is a play upon the decades-old term HiFi that describes the type of output generated by quality musical hardware, Wi Fi symbolizes Wireless Fidelity and is used to define any of the wireless technology in the IEEE 802.11 specification - including (but not necessarily limited to) the wireless protocols 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g. The Wi-Fi Alliance is the body responsible for promoting the term and its association with various wireless technology standards. Wireless networking antennas have improved since their general use began in the 1990s. Older equipment, such as 802.11b networking cards, may only get a usable signal up to 300 feet away from the router or access point. Newer hardware (802.11g or n) could go as far as 2,000 feet, provided that the antennas for both the access point and the receiver card are in a direct line of sight of each other.
