I got a HP Laptop with Vista as the operating system, how can I get it to run faster when opening programs such as word, internet and frostwire.
Answer: Ultimately, no matter what you do, unless your processor is fast enough, Vista will still run slow. It's just the nature of the beast, and it is a beast. Depending on the model of laptop, you may be able to replace the processor on it. Mobile processors are available from on the internet stores such as newegg.com. HOWEVER, it takes a certain level of technical capability, because it typically involves absolutely dismantling your laptop! Not to mention that you’ve to get the correct replacement processor for your particular hardware. This may be ideal left for the pros. Or you may decide to live with the laptop until you can afford a faster one.
Other things you can do:
Check that you’ve at least 2 GB of memory.
If you have a 5,400 RPM hard drive, you might want to take into account replacing it with a 7,200 RPM drive.
Defrag your hard drive.
Again, you can get only so far with these steps. If your processor isn’t at least 2.4 GHz dual core, your Vista computer will probably not be very “snappy”.
Answer: Well your on the right track, but since you have a laptop you wont be able to change the processor out
