I've been reading stuff on them, but not any current stuff on the current airs, I wanna get a refurbished one on apples website since they have the same warranty as new laptops, but I wanna know if the new ones still have lots of problems, I'd be basically using it for i-net typing papers I'm not a gamer at all so that's not a problem even though I do like to watch movies so that might be a problem, any advice? I really do like the whole look, but I don't wanna get a bad laptop eitherthnks in advance
Answer: I just purchased a used Macbook air w/superdrive on ebay for $750…to me it was just a good deal and I needed an update over my 12″ powerbook g4. I needed a laptop that was very portable since I'm in college and lightweight and the macbook air was my answer to that. Having said that, I'm still going to keep my Powerbook g4 in case if I hate the Air (plus it's really hard for me to let go of the 12″ powerbook…its just the perfect size laptop). People tend to rip on the air for the lack of specs, ports and superdrive, but the Macbook air is supposed to be all business. I, for one, never use anything more than one usb port and I hardly use the superdrive on my powerbook except to install new software. And I never play games on my laptop except when I'm on the web (thank you pogo.com!) So for me, the macbook air is perfect.
I don't know too much about the problems besides that reportedly the hinges start to go bad on the air's after a while, and that worries me. If size and weight is not an issue for you then get the macbook or macbook pro as suggested. If you want a very light and thin laptop, such as me who carries their laptop to campus all day, each day then get the Air!
Hope that helped.
