The Asus G72. I ran the Windows experience and the HDD speed and graphics/gaming graphics are slightly lower than the average for the same model. Is there anything I have the ability to do to increase performance in the respective fields?

Also, is there anything I should do for the upkeep and performance of the laptop? like updating drivers, removal of bloatware (removed some, but there's a lot I'm not sure of) , or anything else I should know?

To increase your graphics performance you should go to the manufacturer's website for the graphics card you’ve and make sure you have the latest drivers that they themselves provide.

For upkeep just make sure to have a good anti-virus(I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials with no problems) and it should protect you in the background. Get a good browser such as Mozilla Firefox, and stay away from anything that looks suspicious on the web.

Removing bloatware is always a good thing as well

Get rid of all the bloatware for sure. I blew out my laptop, installed Windows 7 Pro, and just the drivers I need along with my anti-virus software, and Office 07.
