Comparing with other notebooks you might have used are you happy with your mac or not?
Why?
Currently if you are a student, you can purchase a MacBook and save $100 using a student discount, receive a free iPod Touch (valued at $299) and $200 (normally included with Macs) of software that PCs don't provide with Vista-all that totals a saving of $599. This offer will be good through September.
With this as a backdrop I’ll try to answer your question: All Macs are equipped with about $200 of free software called iLife that Personal computers don't have and it's fully integrated with its OS-starting out the Mac has Video Photo, music, DVD creation. It automatically organizes your library by events. If you want to make web pages, iWeb, is breathtaking. You can make professional looking web pages in a matter of minutes in a way that people using windows would take days and weeks to do or may never be able to accomplish. iPhoto enables you to make books, calenders and cards way better and simpler than Computers -totally neat. All the software applications in iLife are fully integrated and will enable you to mix it all. Just the process of sorting through your pics, music and movies is so less difficult than with anything on a PC. iChat and garage band are fantastic.
Of lesser concern to me, because I'm strong on PCs, is that there are no serious virus or spyware for Macs so far. A minor difference in that Mac users won’t need to load any of the anti virus or spyware. For some unknown reason, because the average Mac user has not had any appreciable real experiences with spyware, viruses pop-ups, they in general are deathly afraid of this and view this feature a major asset. While I try to explain removing viruses isn't necessarily something that takes a few minutes if you know what you're doing, most Mac users eyes start drifting when I try explaining the difference between spyware and viruses-a foreign world in the land of MAC.
There are also other things you can do on a Mac that you cannot do on a Computer. One feature that I recently discovered was you can split your screen and work and see both at the same time without having to tab back and fourth. There also features that also allow you to customize and personalize your Mac just for you- easily.
In addition with respect to software integration and efficiency , you can get to the exact place in whatever application you want to go with just 3 executions as oppose to 5-6 with a Computer. I believe part of the reason why Apple software is simpler and more efficient its because Jobs use to be with a software company and what he learned from Next Personal brought those skills to improving the OS to Apple. Prior to jobs returning, Apple was planning on rolling out an operating system very similar to Vista-except it worked. But instead decided to develop smaller, more nimble, simpler and more efficient. He foresaw and avoided the Vista debacle Microsoft is experiencing now-10 years ago for Apple. I’m now spending more and more time of my time on the Mac OS side than on XP as I learn more and find it simpler and quicker and more comfortable with Mac OS.
The options with e-mail are very nice and I've posted a link below. The e-mail also allows you to get definitions from the New Oxford American Dictionary. I’ve provided you a link for some features regarding e-mail that many Mac users use.
From a hardware perspective, if you purchase a Computer, you’ll have to purchase all the different card readers for all your devices. This leaves multiple points of potential problems in most cases you can’t select what you want. With a Mac, you use firewire for everything and you are moving at warp speed as your Mac software automatically recognizes the media and has already helped you organize it in a time less that it takes to use and download the sometimes clunky and glitchy prone PC software.
The Macs also have a Matte screen that I like over the glossy and reflective screens of PCs that are easily thumbed. It provides crystal clear colors that are real. If you have an iPod or other apple products-you also have no problem in using them on your apple.
The Apple personal is quiet and I have not heard my fan. They’re far lighter and have state of the art technology that is fully integrated with its software. OSX is already 64 bit OS that works with 32 bit applications. With drivers that have already been tested and works perfectly with all platforms in OSX-unlike Vista. Apple laptops are also lighter than virtually all PCs and burn cooler with the faster RAM available as a standard.
In addition to and this is no small issue with respect to service , Apple also comes with 90 days of free service that will answer all your questions and take as long as you need o help you. The service is called iCare and it's a service that’ll answer any question you have about a Mac or its software or how to use it. The service is in the US and they use people who talk English as their first language and completely know their product inside out. If the first level can’t help you, the next level will-nothing here is outsourced. iCare will spend all day with you if necessary. If you would like to extend that time, you can but it will cost you a little and you can buy that for up o 1 year after you buy your Mac. If you go through the Geek squad, they’ll also enable you to get accidental damage a long with your service. This service is so huge for those that need some hand holding and are not comfortable with entering a Mac forum and want to talk directly with Mac experts.
In my case, I was a life time PC user, but because Vista sucks, this was a big help in transitioning. I returned 3 high powered Computer and decided to try a MacBook Pro. Because the Macs now all come with the intel processors, I was able to load XP, using bootcamp in the Mac OS. So I now have the ideal of both worlds with awesome OS and don't have to deal with the nightmares of Vista. By 6/30/08 (a few days from now), Microsoft will stop allowing sales of XP over the counter. If that’s the route you want to take, you may need to purchase that software now and your Mac later. education discounts should enable you to still get XP at $80 and under.
When I was having problems with Vista, MS refused to address any questions I had despite my paperwork saying they’d to help me for the first 90 days. They directed me to go to HP. When I wen to HP, they told me because it was a MS product, only MS could help. In addition, the MS OS system is still so unstable, the manufacturers have their own software that’s suppose to monitor the OS to keep it working without crashing. HP advertises their award winning service. Yea right! When the rubber meets the road let me tell you what happens, you call them and get a person from a third country that barely knows English, who will not listen to you and immediately try going through a script to sell you ever type of software they can. That a lone will consume 20 minutes of your life that can’t ever be replaced. Then when you get to person, if you try asking them a simple question like, please tell me the brand and model of my mother board or any hardware components on the prefabricated computer I just got, it's like you’re on Mars. OK you want me to tell you what you just bought? Yes, I would like to determine the reliability of the products, where they were made an if drivers for XP are out there. I'm trying to understand why my top of the line Nvadia graphics drivers are not working with the Vista software platform of the Media Center since I can’t get any support on the software. I also want to know why the sound on my computer is like I'm in a tunnel or living on the Yellow submarine.
In my view if you’re getting a computer and thinking about using Vista, it is a mistake because Vista gives you no reason to upgrade at all. A brand new computer with Vista with 2 GB RAM still can’t run any application superior than what can currently run on a 5 year old PC running XP.
I now view myself as a happy Computer and Mac user, but now spending an increasing amount of my time on the Mac side and love my MBP
